Getting Caught Up

I've been absent for a while! I was super busy doing some big summer markets and festivals as well as going on a little family vacation! Here's my booth at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival Bazaar. The photo on the left was taken at dusk, and you can see my lanterns lit up.
We went into the Cariboo to stay at "Grandma and Grandpa's" cabin. This is my dad's studio and the view from the studio.
The kids had a great time. Check out that super HUGE "blowy thing"! They brought up their slip n' slide...fun!
The kids wanted to go fishing really bad, so here we are "fishing". It was a total fiasco with sharp hooks flying everywhere!
It was unusually green for this time of year (gah - only because it's been raining so much!).
Here's my table at the Khatsahlano Music + Art Festival:
Here's my table at the Ladner Village Market:
That's it - all caught up!

WOYWW? 163

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 163. Today my workdesk was outside on my deck! Summer has finally arrived here in Vancouver, and everyone is enjoying the sun. I love to resin outdoors in the Summer - first of all, resin is stinky, poison-y stuff, so it's nice to be able to work with it outside. Also, the heat makes it much easier to mix up and work with.
Remember the little matchbox artdoll I made for my mom's drawing challenge? I turned her into a keychain today - here she is with some wet resin on her. I pulled out my trusty T.V. tray to work on.
The railings were all lined up with things in various drying stages.
Here's a tray of wet resined pieces. I've been soooo busy lately...I haven't blogged, tweeted, visited blogs, or peeked in on twitter. I haven't even been on Pinterest....you know I must be busy when I haven't checked out Pinterest fifty thousand times a day! I've been prepping for a big outdoor show this weekend - Vancouver Folk Music Festival at Jericho Beach. The weather's going to be GREAT this year!!! hooray! We're due for some good weather since last year was a bust with buckets of rain. Feel like visiting some other creative spaces? Check out Julia Dunnit's blog: "Stamping Ground" for a list of participants.

Finally, A Table Display That Works!

Here's my table display from the craft fair I did yesterday out at the Steveston Salmon Festival - Happy Birthday Canada! I'm used to setting up my display outdoors, on a larger surface area, so I had to compress to fit onto a 6 foot table. Finally, I think I'm (almost) liking my display...there's still a few bugs to work out, but I'm getting there!
My kids and I set up the table the day before, and we went out for fish and chips on the dock at Pajo's, and this large swan was gently cruising around (probably waiting for a stray fry). My daughter was thrilled!

WOYWW? 160

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday, week 160. Today I've been working on making recycled glass tile necklaces. My daughter put that "Rainbow Magic" book there before she left for school for me to repair.
I'm making a double batch, so that I can restock a local store, and also have stock for this weekend's Craft Market out in Steveston for Canada Day! I couldn't get my regular lens on my camera working this morning, so I had to use my bigger lens - which meant I had to stand waaaaay over on the other side of the room so that the camera could actually focus!
My trusty mod podge:
A little pile of glass pieces waiting their turn to be transformed!
Feel like having a little peek into other work spaces? Head on over to Julia Dunnit's blog, "Stamping Ground" for a list of participating people.

WOYWW? 159

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 159. Julia Dunnit's blog "Stamping Ground" is hosting it's weekly blog hop, to view other peoples work desks from around the world! Today I've been working on a new bunting flag for my outdoor tent. My display needs a facelift, and new bunting flags are on the top of my list. I usually do have flags, but they're all pink and green pastels....I just felt like I needed a new burst of colour! I've also been busy making some new greeting cards:

Snapshots from the Royal City Farmers Market

Yesterday was my first date with the Royal City Farmers Market in New Westminster! I had a fun time and met tons of great people. I took these photo's at the end of the market day: Yum - I bought these fresh, local tomatoes and strawberries: Here's my table: I also bought some delicious goods from Sweet Thea (try the coconut lime tart!!), some blackberry jam from Anne's Gallery, some candied ginger from Injiver Ginger Crack Company, and lovely soap from Cheryl at Scentimental Creations! I'm looking forward to the other markets there throughout the summer! (see sidebar for info.)

WOYWW? week 158

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 158. The weeks are just flying by! It feels like every time I look up, it's time for Julia Dunnit's blog hop over at her blog: "Stamping Ground". Head on over to see what a bunch of creative people are up to this Wednesday! I'm working on several things today, including this atc: I'm making it for Cindy at the Crafty Frugalista! I'm also working on these magnets: I make them out of recycled ceramic 2 inch tiles. I'm always working on a new batch of "something" to resin. There's never not a time when I don't have some sort of assembly line going on! Today it's piles of key chains made out of recycled mahjong tiles. One last thing on my plate for today: greeting cards! So much to do, not enough hours!

Looking Forward to the Ladner Village Market Tormorrow!

Tomorrow is the first Ladner Village Market of the year, and I'm totally looking forward to it. uuuuggghhh - we've been dubbing June "June-uary" here on the West Coast. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rain tomorrow!! Remember all of those stacks of Scrabble Tiles I was working on last Wednesday? WOYWW 157

What's On Your WorkDesk? Wednesday - week 157. Every Wednesday Julia Dunnit hosts a weekly blog hop into people's work spaces at her blog: "Stamping Ground". Today I'm working on Scrabble Tiles - lots and lots of them! I'm working on some custom orders, and some store requests, and there's some upcoming shows too! The piles on the left are for cuff links, and the piles on the right are for earrings. Here's a photo of some finished cuff links from the last show I was at. This was my "mens" section. Most of my stuff is very flowery and delicate, but I get requests for mens items all the time. Today I'm also working on some goodie bags for my daughters birthday party on Friday! Her real birthday is tomorrow, and she's just sooooo excited to be turning 6. She told me this morning that tomorrow is going to be the best day of her life because she'll be SIX years old! lol

Tag Tuesday :: "Bunting"

There's a fun blog called "Tag Tuesday", where they post a theme for each week (on Tuesday's), and you make a tag using that theme. Last week's theme was "Bunting", and I made this:

While running my errands today, I couldn't help but buy these three pots of gorgeous, fresh herbs for my balcony!
The mint smells wonderful....
....I guess it's time for some mojito's!

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Here's a little paper artdoll that I made, using a matchbox. My mom hosted a drawing challenge on her blog last week, and her theme was "paper doll/drama" (of course I'm several days late, but she's my mom and she doesn't mind!)

WOYWW? 156

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 156. I haven't posted in a week - since last "Workdesk Wednesday!" I had a great weekend at the Portobello West show over the weekend, and have been puttering around, doing a little of this, little of that. Today I've been making invitations for my daughter's 6th birthday party:
She's sharing her party with another boy in her class, so the whole class is invited.
I'm also working on some glass necklaces, cutting up some of this new gorgeous handmade paper that I got last week:

A local store has requested a stock re-fresher, and I'm also participating in a market: "Portobello West Fashion and Art Market" on Saturday and Sunday.
The assembly line:
Here's some bottle caps at my table from last weekend (I was outdoors in the POURING rain!):
Here's some finished ones:
