I'm working on several things at once...one of them being these bunny girls. I'm taking an online class from Teresa McFayden, which has been a lot of fun!
I don't know why I drew her neck so long, but my 7 year old daughter hates it! She can be a little dramatic, but she says she can't even look at it because it "freaks her out"!
Here's a stamp that I'm making for the envelopes of the postcard swap. It was meant to be a mail bird, but my hubby thinks it looks like a school bird.
Here's #10 - the last postcard for the swap! It just needs some words in the oval.....something about wings maybe.
Head on over to Julia Dunnit's blog to check out other creative work spaces!
I've been having a ton of fun in my studio, making postcards for the postcard swap over at Musings On Realities. Although I've had my new studio space since November, I didn't really move in until this month. It's SO nice to be able to start a project and leave it out.....and to have all your supplies in one place.....and working with no interruptions.
Some of these will be getting some text added to them, but 7 out of 10 are (mostly) finished!
Lately I've been obsessed with fancy typography on blackboards. I've seen some recipes online for homemade chalkboard paint, and all sorts of different chalkboard projects.....I see some black walls in my house in 2012! shhhhh - don't tell my hubby! (This is from designinspiration)
One of my favourite mixed media books these days is "Plaster Studio", by Stephanie Lee & Judy Wise......
.....so I was inspired to use plaster on my newest batch of birds and crows. I have no idea how they'll turn out, but it's sure fun playing around! Once these are dry I'll start playing with some paint....maybe some beeswax....I don't know!
I'm constantly trying to figure out the secret to taking magical photo's. I see such beautiful photo's on people's blogs, flickr and etsy.....and then there are mine! My secret is to take TONS of shots, and hope that at least one is a keeper. Here's a little mosaic of (yet another) photo shoot that I did today of a few encaustic birds (that are now in my shop).
I FINALLY finished these crows and birds! Geez louize these took me a while to finish off.
I plan on reviving my etsy shop - it's been a long while since I've listed anything on etsy. This time I'll be starting from scratch with a brand new shop under the name: "RavensRestStudio", instead of "JenniferConway".
Here's a couple of encaustic bird collages that I made last night..... This one has layers of old, old map paper, and handmade paper with gold flecks in it. Look at their darling little bird toes - aren't they the cutest things?!
I'm still working on the beeswax coated birds and crows. I had to take a little break from them, but they're aaaaaalmost finished now! The melted beeswax makes our house smell wonderful! These guys just need a little colour (I love using pan pastels), and some black sparkling top hats, and they're done!
Here's my January giveaway: It's a little encaustic piece that I made in December. It measures 3 x 5 inches, and is made from layers of 1930's court ledger paper, handmade paper, image transfer, and pan pastels......with layers of beeswax in-between, and on top of it all!
