WOYWW? What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday #241

WOYWW?  What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday - week #241.  Stamping Ground is hosting the weekly Wednesday blog hop, peeking into people's work desks.  Head on over there for a list of participating bloggers.

Here is my messy desk!  I've been working on postcards for a swap I joined.  This one is the 8th one.....2 more to go!

See those Portfolio Oil Pastels there?  I *LOVE* them!......but I bought this set in the Summer, and for some reason I left them on the window sill and they melted!  Thankfully I'm still able to use them though.

So today I painted this girl.  Don't even ask about her eyebrows....or her wide face! lol  It looks like she's just come out of dental surgery!

Tomorrow it's my hubby's birthday, so I'll be baking his favourite cake in the world - Carrot Cake.  Our favourite recipe is from a Mennonite Cookbook: "Food That Really Schmecks".  Then I'll head back into the studio to work on post card #9.

WOYWW? #201

What's On Your Work Desk? Wednesday - #201

Last week it was square glass tiles....this week it's glass circles!  I'm not sure why that owl tag was left front and centre there, but I was working on that yesterday for "Tag Tuesday".  Believe it or not, these photo's were taken this morning, but it was SO RAINY and dark it looks like the photo's were taken at night!  The last photo shows what they'll look like when they're finished (this is an instagram photo from "birdonawireart" - (a local store called "Bird on a Wire Creations" on Main Street, Vancouver)).

WOYWW?

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday
I'm jumping on board with Julia Dunnit's weekly bog-hop. Pop on over to her blog to see a full list of the people participating in this weeks "What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday".
I've been starting to prep for all of the upcoming Spring shows, and today it's all about these 1 inch square glass tiles. This is the beginning of a big batch of necklaces. Not so much colour or brightness on my Wednesday work desk today.....but these little guys will get colour added to them soon enough!
(ha! I just noticed the lego figurine sitting there!)

WOYWW? Week 177

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 177! I haven't participated in Julia Dunnit's weekly blog hop in a while! Here is my work desk today. I have to say.....this is not a accurate representation of my work space! I'm taking these photo's at the beginning of my day....it will get MUCH messier as the day wears on! See the cute little pumpkin? My daughter went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch yesterday and that was her pick!
I have a new favourite coffee mug:
This Saturday, I'll be at a local store: "Bird on a Wire", working in the window! I've decided to work on greeting cards and Scrabble Tile earrings and necklaces...
...so today I'm prepping for Saturday.
It all starts by reaching into my LARGE jar of Scrabble Tiles, and drilling a hole through them.
Organizing them...
...into pairs.
Stacking them up, ready to be glued down.
Thought I'd work on some key chains (on recycled Rummikub tiles), while I'm at it!
Here's the store window:
We set up this small display yesterday!
My mom is helping me prep the cards for Saturday....she posted her work desk *here* (#146)

WOYWW? 160

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday, week 160. Today I've been working on making recycled glass tile necklaces. My daughter put that "Rainbow Magic" book there before she left for school for me to repair.
I'm making a double batch, so that I can restock a local store, and also have stock for this weekend's Craft Market out in Steveston for Canada Day! I couldn't get my regular lens on my camera working this morning, so I had to use my bigger lens - which meant I had to stand waaaaay over on the other side of the room so that the camera could actually focus!
My trusty mod podge:
A little pile of glass pieces waiting their turn to be transformed!

WOYWW? week 149

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 149.

Today my "desk" is portable! I just bought this vintage arborite tray, and I **LOVE** it! This Wednesday it's all about Scrabble Tiles, and I've been cutting, sorting and organizing little images all morning.
These will be turned into earrings:
I use Scrabble Tiles for necklaces, brooches, cuff links and earrings.
Again, my oven is filled with another tray of resin coated "things" (Dominoes, Rummikub's and Scrabble Tiles). In this household, you always have to peek in the oven before pre-heating it for actual food!

WOYWW? week 147

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 147.

Today I have a lot of paper flying around my workspace! Paper and scissors - my two favourite things. I just realized that I only took close-up shots of the things on my desk, and not the whole "shebang" - just envision lots and lots of paper!!

I'm working on cards today. I go through card making phases, and I'm definitely in a card making phase right now!

Here's some cards packaged up and ready to go:
I'm also working on different backgrounds for my necklace packaging. It's Spring - time for a change! So again, lots of paper cutting there too! I really need to invest in a pair of spring loaded scissors!!

WOYWW? 146

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 146.

Today I'm working on some last minute things for my first craft fair of the year! Resin is on the agenda for today. These are wet, and are now drying in my oven!
These are also in my oven:
These are waiting to be filled with resin:
The resin:

WOYWW? 145

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - week 145

Today I was working on soldering some postage stamps under squares of glass. One side has beveled glass....doesn't this fish look like it's in an aquarium?
Here is the flip side. This side has plain, smooth glass.
I have such a large stash of postage stamps, and some of them are so beautiful - why not wear them?! I love the monkey stamp....and the mushrooms too!
Here I am in the studio....slouched over, hair pulled up, fleece on!

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday

Today I'm working on some postcards. I'm not sure why I'm using the largest pair of scissors I own - usually I like working with the teeny-tiny (sharp!) ones.
I've cut up a pile of 4 x 6 inch postcard blanks out of heavy weight watercolour paper:
I store all of my cast-off paper scraps in a cookie tin:
Here's the lid of the tin:

Here's a few that I've been working on...(about an hour after my original post).

WOYWW? 141

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Today I'm working on making some sewn paper chicks. Here I'm prepping some paper, by gluing old sewing pattern paper onto an old Chinese/English dictionary page with fluid acrylic medium:
Look at the state of my glue brush!!
Some body parts:
Although I have a brand new sewing machine, for some reason I'm using my 5 year old daughter's "Hello Kitty" sewing machine!
I'm still working on the owls that I talked about last week, but today it's all about the chicks! I have to head out to get my hair cut, but I'll post some photo's later today of some (hopefully) finished chicks!

I mention my haircut because it's a HUGE deal for me to actually get it cut. I'm a hairstylist who hates getting her own hair cut! I get it cut about once every 18 months....wish me luck!

Head on over to Julia Dunnit's "Stamping Ground" to see what other's are up to today! She mentions in her post today that she's been getting requests for people to turn off their word verification's in the comments section. I'm keeping mine on due to some massive spamming that I've gotten in the past - sorry for the inconvenience!

Later Wednesday.......

I came back from my hair appointment and made this little bird. There's lots of mistakes, but I sure learned a lot. The next ones will be MUCH better....and hopefully I won't run out of wire for the 2nd foot! lol
