ROD Journal Cover

For ages now, I've seen people talking about their "ROD" journals....and had no idea what they were talking about! I loved them, but I was lost on what "ROD" meant. Finally, a few nights ago, I did a little online investigation and discovered that a "ROD" journal meant a "Remains of the Day" journal that Mary Ann Moss makes (and teaches online). So I immediately signed up and made this fabric cover last night.

I was surprised at what I created. I don't think of myself as a pale violet type of person, but I kept getting drawn to it. The base fabric is from an old vintage curtain, and then it's layered with scraps; a bit of pillowcase, delicate scalloped handkerchief, doilies, hand embroidered table runners etc. My only complaint is that the curtain fabric is highly synthetic/plastic feeling, and I don't like the feel of it in my hands......something to think about for next time.

Here it is closed:

The suitcase of fabric scraps that I raided for the project:
My ever trusty pincushion!
