Here is my messy desk!  I've been working on postcards for a swap I joined.  This one is the 8th one.....2 more to go!

See those Portfolio Oil Pastels there?  I *LOVE* them!......but I bought this set in the Summer, and for some reason I left them on the window sill and they melted!  Thankfully I'm still able to use them though.

So today I painted this girl.  Don't even ask about her eyebrows....or her wide face! lol  It looks like she's just come out of dental surgery!

Tomorrow it's my hubby's birthday, so I'll be baking his favourite cake in the world - Carrot Cake.  Our favourite recipe is from a Mennonite Cookbook: "Food That Really Schmecks".  Then I'll head back into the studio to work on post card #9.

First 7 Postcards for the International Postcard Swap

I've been having a ton of fun in my studio, making postcards for the postcard swap over at Musings On Realities.  Although I've had my new studio space since November, I didn't really move in until this month.  It's SO nice to be able to start a project and leave it out.....and to have all your supplies in one place.....and working with no interruptions.

Some of these will be getting some text added to them, but 7 out of 10 are (mostly) finished!

The end of 2013 was a busy one for me, and I didn't have much time to do anything except pour all of my energy into the Winter craft fairs.  That's over now (whew!) and I'm looking forward to 2014 - joining more art swaps, setting up my new studio and playing around with paint and collage.

I just joined this swap, hosted by Shannon Ganshorn (of Musings on Realities).  Anyone can join (here), and the deadline is January 12th.  You make 10 handmade postcards in a mixed-media style, send them out to 10 different people, and you get 10 postcards back from 10 different artists.  FUN!!

Wow!  What a busy craft market season I've had!  I've had NO time to check in.....it's all over now (except for one more market date on Dec. 21st out at the New Westminster Quay).  Now it's time to have some holiday cheer with my family (and get the house in order - you should see the state it's in after all the craft market craziness!!!).  This weekend we'll get our tree and decorate it with my bajillion  vintage Christmas ornaments.

Working on Bottle Cap Magnets Today

This was on the agenda for today: Bottle Cap magnets!! I plan on selling them in sets of 3 in my etsy shop.....hopefully that will happen later tonight, after the kid-o's are in bed!

I've had many, many requests to update my online shop.....and I've been promising for months now......tonight it's finally happened.....I've added a few cards to my etsy shop!!  I'll just keep adding and adding over the next little while to fill the shop up!

Mosaic Monday - Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

It was a turkey feast around these parts!

My son has decided that he wants to learn how to cook "so that when he's older, if he doesn't have a girlfriend to cook for him, he won't starve"!! Don't worry - I straightened him out on that one! He made this sweet potato/peaches/brown sugar/mini marshmallow dish. He liked it.

Mosaic Monday - Studio Love

Wow.....I can't believe the ENTIRE Summer came and went without popping in and blogging! It was a great summer. Great weather, great festivals, great family fun....but busy, busy, busy!! Autumn has arrived, along with dropping acorns, colourful leaves...and those hang-y silk worms dangling from the trees!

I very recently rented a studio space outside of my home. I can't show any photo's yet, because it's in shambles with paint supplies and Ikea boxes everywhere. I spend a lot of time on Pinterest though, admiring other people's studios....so "Studio Love" is the theme of my Mosaic Monday today! Summer Markets Have Begun

It's been busy around these parts!  The weather's improving and the outdoor shows have begun!  Here's my booth at the Ladner Village Market last Sunday:

Here's my booth set up at the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire (part of the mini Got Craft? group).  I had just bought that vintage 3-tiered lamp there on the left - I LOVE it!

My kids, taking a little break at Sports Day.  They're growing up fast!

My hubby and I dropped the kids of at "Oma's and Tante's" over the Victoria Day long weekend and had a fun weekend away on our scooters!

A few of the things I've been working on.  Do you instagram?  These photo's are from my instagram account (RavensRest is my instagram name).

I started selling my wares at a store attached to the Vancouver Public Library's main branch downtown, called Book'mark.

What's On Your Work Desk? Wednesday - #201

Last week it was square glass tiles....this week it's glass circles!  I'm not sure why that owl tag was left front and centre there, but I was working on that yesterday for "Tag Tuesday".  Believe it or not, these photo's were taken this morning, but it was SO RAINY and dark it looks like the photo's were taken at night!  The last photo shows what they'll look like when they're finished (this is an instagram photo from "birdonawireart" - (a local store called "Bird on a Wire Creations" on Main Street, Vancouver)).
